How soon should my life back to normal after hair transplant?
How soon I can get back to exercise?

Author : HairLaserRemoval.co.ukHow do I judge whether my hair transplant is failure?

Normal, it is often possible to go back to work within 1 or 2 days after hair transplant surgery depending on the type of work you do.

  • Resume immediately after hair transplant surgery
Mild exercise, such as walking and everyday activities may be resumed immediately.

  • You may begin regular aerobic activities in 7 - 10 days after hair transplant surgery.

You can probably start your regular aerobic activities after the first week as long as the wound is not stressed (no heavy weights at all).

It is strongly recommended that any vigorous activity should be avoided within the first week after hair transplant surgery. In the 4 days after surgery, newly implanted grafts are not completely healed and infused in surrounding skin.

The strenuous exercise can easily cause your blood pressure to rise and the incisions into which your hair grafts have been placed to bleed. If this happens the very tiny hair grafts may well become dislodged. After this period, even pulling the hair after this period of time doesn't have an adverse effect.

The second is that the wound of the donor area is not healed in the first 10 days. Vigorous activity will cause to bleeding and difficult to heal. We advise abstaining swimming for about 10 days. The water contains chemicals +/- harmful bacteria and should be avoided until healing is complete.

  • You can have strenuous exercise gradually resumed in 2 weeks after hair transplant surgery.
After 2 weeks, the wound is practically healed, you can have strenuous exercise gradually resumed. However, the strength of this newly healed wound is nowhere close to normal skin but between weeks 5 and 6 it reaches better than 80% internal strength. The process of wound maturation takes up to six months after the surgery.

Anything that increases the tension between the edges of the healing wound in the donor area, such as weight lifting and other exercises which involve intense bending of the neck. You should wait at least 6 months for this type of exercise in order to prevent opening of the wound or widening of the final scar.

  • You can return to normal after 6 months
